Zendesk alternative for Shopify merchants

Fyncall is a Zendesk alternative for Shopify merchants who want a helpdesk that starts from store data rather than a general service suite. Zendesk prices per agent and is the stronger choice for telephony, IVR and enterprise controls. Fyncall suits small teams focused on WhatsApp, Instagram, email and web chat.

During our check zendesk.com/pricing redirected to a regional site, so the figures below come from Zendesk's English-language Singapore pricing page, shown in US dollars. Your region's prices may differ.

Is a general service suite what a Shopify store needs?

It depends on what your support operation looks like. Zendesk is built for many kinds of business, and Shopify is one integration among many. Fyncall is built for Shopify merchants and has no other platform to serve. That focus is a limit as well as a benefit: a business with a call centre, several product lines or strict governance requirements will outgrow what Fyncall covers today.

For a store of a few people that mostly answers delivery, product and returns questions in chat apps and email, a general suite can mean paying for and configuring capabilities that nobody uses. That trade-off is what this page helps you assess.

How does per-agent pricing change the decision?

With Zendesk, your base cost rises as you add agents. Zendesk's pricing page also says that some features, including App Builder, Action Builder and Voice, are billed by consumption beyond plan allowances, and that add-ons are billed on top of the base plan. So total cost depends on seats, usage and add-ons together.

Seat pricing is easy to forecast when your headcount is stable, and that is a genuine advantage if your AI usage is unpredictable. On Fyncall, seats are not the variable on Pro; AI usage against your allowance is. Decide which variable is more stable for your store. If you have many occasional seats, such as warehouse staff who check a ticket once a day, that matters more than the list price of either product.

How does the AI compare?

Zendesk says its AI agents are included in every Suite and Support plan, with pricing based on successful outcomes. It announced in March 2026 that it is removing the split between essential and advanced AI agents, and moving features such as agentic reasoning and external API integrations into base plans. It also said details of how outcome-based pricing will evolve would follow separately, so check for the latest version.

Fyncall's agents come with Shopify tools for orders, tracking, inventory and returns, so most of the setup work is writing your policies and flows rather than connecting systems. The trade-off is flexibility: if your agents need to call systems well beyond a Shopify store, Zendesk lists an Action Builder and an App Builder, and its announcement mentions external API integrations.

When is Zendesk the better choice?

  • Phone support is part of your service. Zendesk has telephony and IVR. Fyncall has no voice channel.
  • You need formal controls. Approval workflows, a sandbox and customised roles are listed on Suite Enterprise + Copilot.
  • Shopify is only part of your business. If support also covers wholesale, a separate brand on another platform or internal IT, a general suite makes more sense.
  • You rely on WeChat, LINE, Slack or X. Zendesk lists them. Fyncall does not offer them.
  • You run several storefronts. Zendesk's article describes connecting more than one to one account.
  • Procurement needs an established vendor. Fyncall is a newer product, and our App Store listing has no reviews at the time of writing.

When does Fyncall fit better?

  • Your team is small and shop-focused, and you do not want to pay more each time you add a person to the inbox.
  • WhatsApp and Instagram sit alongside email. Each has its own agent, plus channel rules such as the 24-hour WhatsApp window shown in the inbox.
  • Instagram comments are a sales channel. Flow triggers can target a specific post or reel.
  • You want to start with reviewed AI drafts. Draft & Review can be set per channel.

What does moving from Zendesk involve?

Fyncall's docs do not describe an importer for Zendesk tickets, help centre content or triggers. Treat it as a rebuild. Zendesk accounts often hold years of triggers, views and macros, so start by listing which ones still fire.

  1. List the triggers and macros that handle most of your current volume. Ignore the rest for now.
  2. Export help centre articles and policies, split them by topic, and upload them to the knowledge base as PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT or MD files up to 10 MB.
  3. Rewrite high-volume macros as flows or as rules in Guardrails.
  4. Check your Zendesk renewal date and any seat commitment before picking a cutover date.
  5. Pilot one channel in Draft & Review while Zendesk handles the rest.
  6. Keep Zendesk available for reference until open tickets finish, and export any records you must retain.
